WHAT CAN I COOK WITH IT?
Crispy Roast Potatoes
This might be where we'd start.
Melt a generous spoonful into your roasting tray, toss through your potatoes and roast until golden and crispy.
There's a reason beef fat and potatoes have been friends for a very long time.
Steak
Add a little tallow to a hot pan before searing your steak for a simple cooking fat that feels right at home around beef.
Eggs
Melt a small spoonful into your pan and use it in place of your usual cooking fat.
Breakfast sorted.
Roasted Vegetables
Melt, toss and roast.
Use it with potatoes, pumpkin, carrots and other vegetables whenever you want to change things up from olive oil.
Frying
From onions to mince and everything in between, keep the jar beside the stove and reach for it whenever the frying pan comes out.
Cast-Iron Cooking
Tallow and cast iron make a pretty natural pairing.
Traditional cookware. Traditional cooking fat.
WHY COOK WITH TALLOW?
Because sometimes the old ways still make a lot of sense.
Tallow has been used as a cooking fat for generations.
It's solid at cooler room temperatures, melts beautifully when heated and can be used across everything from a quick breakfast fry-up to a Sunday roast.
And ours couldn't have a simpler ingredient list.
Beef tallow.
That's the list.
HOW TO USE
Scoop the desired amount into your pan, pot or roasting tray and allow it to melt before cooking.
Use it anywhere you'd normally reach for a suitable cooking fat — frying, roasting or searing.
A small amount is often enough for everyday pan cooking, while those properly crispy roast potatoes might deserve a little more generosity.
STORAGE
Keep the lid tightly closed and store according to the directions on the jar.
Always use a clean, dry utensil when scooping tallow from the jar and avoid introducing water or food particles into the product.
As a natural animal fat, the consistency of your tallow can change depending on temperature.
It may be firmer when it's cool and softer when it's warm.
That's completely normal.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's in your Cooking Tallow?
One ingredient: 100% grass-fed beef tallow.
Does it contain seed oils?
No. There are no added seed oils or other cooking oils in our Cooking Tallow.
What can I use it for?
It's a versatile cooking fat that can be used for frying, roasting and searing. Try it with eggs, steak, vegetables or roast potatoes.
Does it taste strongly like beef?
Our Cooking Tallow has a relatively clean flavour, but it is a natural beef product, so some characteristic flavour and aroma should be expected.
Is Cooking Tallow the same as your skincare tallow?
No. Our Cooking Tallow is a food product made specifically for cooking. Keep the moisturiser in the bathroom and this jar in the kitchen.
Why does it change consistency?
Tallow naturally changes with temperature. It'll become firmer when cooler and softer as temperatures rise. Once heated in the pan, it melts into a liquid cooking fat.
How should I store it?
Follow the storage directions on the jar and always keep the container properly sealed. Use a clean, dry utensil when scooping from it.
Can I use it for roast potatoes?
Please do.
We'd almost be disappointed if you didn't.
